UX Designer / Researcher (x2) Location: London Hours per week: 35 Contract type: 1 years' fixed term Salary: GBP 38,000 - 40,000 pro rate per annum (including London weighting) Could you design and test new products which provide impactful solutions to help people in crisis? What you will be doing As UX Designers you will help us redesign essential products and services -improving the experience of people in crisis as well as our volunteers and staff. As part of the digital team, you'll collaborate with users, service volunteers and staff as well as delivery managers, developers and other designers. Projects being worked on The two roles will cover a number of projects, including three major initiatives: Mobility Aids, Curriculum and Volunteer Experience. Mobility Aids: following a successful project developing the ability for users to search for and reserve equipment online, we're now supporting the service in their move to a social enterprise model. This will make the service more sustainable in the long term and means some key changes to the digital elements of the service. We're looking for someone with a strong focus on putting the user at the centre. Curriculum: With first aid education being added to the curriculum, we're looking at how we can best support learning in schools. Digital will play a key part of this, and we're looking for someone who's going to ensure what we build is designed with our users at the heart. Experience of working within either education or first aid would be ideal, but not essential. Volunteer Experience: Following an extensive service design project, we have several concepts which we're looking to design and test to improve recruitment and engagement of the 20,000 volunteers who support our services across the UK (E.g. event first aid, refugee support, independent living). We use kindness to help those in crisis, and behind every great cause there's a great team making everything possible. It is essential that our organisation is meeting the changing and increasing expectations of those in crisis, and our volunteers and staff providing services. Our Central Innovation work across the organisation, identifying opportunities and finding new ways in which we can better accomplish the British Red Cross mission and support people in crisis. Event First Aid Service VolunteerBe part of a team that saves lives!Location: Harrow and BusheyCommitment: 12 events per year, 6 days training and 20 hours continuous professional developmentPlease note for this role you must attend regular group night meetings which will take place every weekIf you want to help us keep people safe at events, we would love to have you on our team.As an event first aider, you'll provide first aid care to people injured at public events. This role can see you at sporting events, challenge events, flower shows and festivals, to name but a few. You don't need any previous first aid experience to become a first aider - we will give you all the training you need. What you'll get back from volunteering:If you're looking to develop your skills in first aid, communication and team work, this is the role for you. You'll have the chance to volunteer alongside a great variety of friendly and sociable people, whilst becoming part of the world's largest humanitarian organisation.We're looking for someone who is: Willing to undertake the 6-day training course, run at weekends. Training locations can be found here.Willing to take part in weekly first aid training.Willing to undertake 1 or 2 events per month, which would typically be a full day at a weekend.Physically able to undertake first aid, including administering a minimum of 3 minutes of CPR.Understanding of the needs of service users of different ages, differing physical needs and varying backgrounds.Willing to uphold the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and adhere to the British Red Cross Equal Opportunities Policy.Aged 16 or over. Parental consent, risk assessment and safeguarding apply to those aged under 18.Tasks included in this role:Providing first-aid care in line with current protocols and Care Quality Commission (CQC) standardsHelping other members of the team set up and dismantle first aid posts.Completing all paperwork associated with first aid delivery.Using communications equipment, if required, in accordance with British Red Cross guidelines, and keeping appropriate records of use.This role requires an enhanced criminal record check (DBS/PVG).Connecting human kindness with human crisis
