The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe execution of maintenance activities on electrical and distribution systems located in a hazardous area environment. Main Responsibilities: Operational switching, fault location, repair and maintenance of electrical distribution equipment up to 132kV, electrical switchgear, motors, motorised operated valves, uninterruptable power systems, control schemes and PLC systems. Carry out electrical preventative maintenance (PM's) / inspections on hazardous area rated electrical equipment. Application of basic reliability techniques and tools to further enhance the Refinery's safety and reliability culture. Carry out electrical installations in compliance with the latest electrical wiring regulations. Technical support for contractors' personnel engaged in electrical maintenance and installation activities. A commitment to provide out of hours call out cover and to work extended hours during busy periods. Qualifications & Skills Candidates will be innovative, self-motivated with the ability to work independently with enthusiasm and minimal supervision. Our client is now looking for an Electrical and Utilities Engineer. Responsible for developing the optimum maintenance and operational strategy for electrical and utilities assets and systems, and to ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory, and regulatory requirements across an estate of nearly 1 Million Square Feet. The jobholder will have a detailed knowledge of the specialist critical building infrastructure systems and operational processes. These include the MV/LV electrical distribution, standby electrical generators, power management system, and centralised uninterruptible power supplies, the mechanical systems associated with generation and distribution of the core utilities including steam, LTHW, mains and chilled Water, compressed air, CHP and the facility fuel delivery systems. Key Responsibilities Actively engage with the Hard FM partner to develop and implement the optimum maintenance strategy for Electrical and Utilities assets and systems based on industry best practice using reliability based and predictive maintenance techniques to ensure long-term reliability whilst minimising life cycle costs. Promote a continuous improvement culture to support ongoing asset availability and reliability/resilience improvements. Identify critical spares requirements in support of optimising reliability. As part of the fleet division, our Plant Team - South have an excellent opportunity for a mobile plant technician to join the team in their service operations in and around the Slough and Reading areas. Primarily based in Slough, in a purpose built modern garage, you will ensure that all plant condition is kept safe, serviceable and fit for purpose at all times. This will involve the service and inspection of a large fleet of plant including mini diggers, winches, trailers of several types as well as a large range of small plant disc cutters, chainsaws, rammers and breakers. You will be provided with a fully kitted out vehicle for mobile fitting and repairs on breakdowns as well as out of area servicing. Other duties will include attending regular team briefs and meetings; undertaking various in-house training. Your Skills and Experience Having served a recognised apprenticeship, you will be educated to a minimum of HNC or NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and will have the ability to diagnose plant faults and defects. Through previous experience in a similar Plant Technician role, you will have strong knowledge of Plant and equipment (engine driven) petrol and diesel engines plus hydraulic systems. As you will be responding to breakdowns; you must be comfortable working alone and unsupervised in outlying areas and it is essential that you are able to use your initiative to take autonomous action to rectify any issues where and when appropriate.
